The Choctawhatchee River and Bay watershed covers about 5,349 square miles, of which 41 percent is in Florida. Principal river tributaries include the Pea River in Alabama and Holmes, Wrights, Sandy, Pine Log, Seven Run and Bruce creeks in Florida. The river system also receives substantial ground water contribution from springs of the Floridan Aquifer. It covers portions of Bay, Holmes, Jackson, Okaloosa, Walton and Washington counties in Florida.
