The District makes all of its lands available to
the public except for conservation easement properties. It permits
a range of resource-based recreational activities, such as boating,
horseback riding, hiking and fishing. Its one stipulation is that
visitors not threaten or harm the resource. To encourage suitable
recreation, the District may contract with county sheriffs’ departments
to enforce vehicle exclusion where indicated, to prohibit dumping
and to enforce natural resource protection rules and regulations.
