SUSCEPTIBILITY OF PUBLIC SUPPLY WELLS TO GROUND WATER CONTAMINATION IN SOUTHERN ESCAMBIA COUNTY, FLORIDA

This study provides tools with which the risk posed to public supply wells (existing and proposed) by ground water contamination can be assessed. The study presents inventories of potential ground water contamination sources (cleaning business locations, underground storage tank locations and delineated contaminant plumes). These data are available in ARCView format. The study also presents a multi-variate statistical model that may be used to evaluate the risk posed to wells by the inventoried contamination sources. It is the intent of this work to improve the local community's ability to effectively manage the Sand-and-Gravel Aquifer as a potable water source.
