Choctawhatchee River and Bay SWIM Plan Update
The Surface Water
Improvement and Management (SWIM) Plan for the Choctawhatchee River and
Bay watershed was approved in 1996 as a framework within which the District
would work with local governments, state and federal agencies, and private
initiatives to address major issues affecting the watershed. The plan
identified priority issues and provided strategies and actions to protect
and restore watershed resources and functions. Since 1996, cooperative
efforts have been pursued by a number of organizations, and progress has
been made on project implementation.
This plan update
was developed to document implementation progress, describe changes in
the watershed, and identify future activities and funding requirements.
Implementation will help support for a continued cooperative effort to
protect and restore watershed resources and the benefits they provide
for the surrounding community.
