Consumptive Uses of Water

Consumptive Use Permitting Consistency 
Notice of Receipt of Water Use Permit Applications
For consumptive use permitting purposes, the District is divided
into three permitting areas; Permit Areas A, B, and C. (See Permit
Area Map in Adobe Acrobat format). Unless exempted by law or
rule, a consumptive use permit is required for the following:
Ground Water Withdrawals
Permit Area A
- All non-exempt water uses regardless
of well size or withdrawal amounts.
Permit Area B
- Withdrawals which exceed an annual
daily average of 100,000 gallons; or
- Combined withdrawal
capacity of the well(s) exceeds 1,000,000 gallons a day;
or
- Withdrawals from a well(s) six-inches
or larger in diameter; or
- Any withdrawal for Community public supply
or bottled water use.
Permit Area C
- Withdrawals which exceed 1,400,000
gallons in any single day; or
- Withdrawals from a well(s)
ten-inches or larger in diameter; or
- Any withdrawal for community public
supply or bottled water water use.
Surface Water Withdrawals (Regardless of Location)
- Withdrawals
from a lake, pond, river, stream, or impoundment which
exceed an average daily withdrawal of 100,000 gallons,
or exceed 1,000,000 gallons on any single day or 10 percent
of the base flow of the supplying water body; or
- In Gadsden
County, in addition to the above thresholds, surface water
withdrawals using a pipe(s) or combination of pipes whose
outside diameter(s) equals 4 inches or larger; or
- Any
withdrawal for community public
supply or bottled water water use.
