Well Permitting Data Files

For the convenience of our water well contractors, we are providing a summary of existing well permits, grouped by county. The data in these tables has been provided by water well contractors on completion reports and, in most cases, has not been verified by District staff. Because Excel has a limitation on the number of rows per spreadsheet, some of the counties have been split up into multiple files.

The data represents records for wells permitted for construction/repair/abandonment beginning in the year 1976 so does not typically contain data on wells constructed prior to 1976. The data provided may therefore only represent a fraction of existing wells. Monitor well records have been excluded from these tables.

The spreadsheets are sorted by township, range, and section to make it convenient for locating the well depths or static water levels for the area of interest.

To use the files, right-click on the file and save it to your computer. You may need a program to uncompress (unzip) the data file. The unzipped data file will be named with a suffix of SLK, which can be opened with Microsoft Excel or compatible software.
